IN THE BEGINNING
Every business has a story to tell – including one that does garage door repair, Agoura Hills. At Archway, the tale begins in 1986 when founder Rick Burk settled in Simi Valley, CA. Fresh out of the Navy Seabees, Rick wasted no time in getting his California contractor’s license. Originally, he started out in plumbing with a C-36 license and the purchase of A & B Plumbing.
As with any saga that spans decades, it would take a brief return to Rick’s home state of Illinois where he discovered his true calling. After being introduced to working on garage doors, he realized plumbing was what he wanted to do forever. Excited with the new possibilities, Rick returned to the coast relocated to Lancaster and opened Archway Plumbing & Garage Door Service, adding a D-28 license for garage doors and gates. While he’s always maintained the plumbing license, he has focused on garage doors ever since.
Along the way, he met James Meyer who was already experienced in the same field and working at a different company. The two became friends, so it was perfectly natural for Rick and James to become partners in the daily operations of Archway Garage Doors.
Forming a team allowed Archway to expand its service area from Lancaster and the Antelope Valley area to cover both Santa Clarita and Simi Valleys. James’ many years of garage door industry experience brings lots of knowledge and happy customers to the growing business.
If there is one thing we know inside and out at Archway, it’s garage doors. Lancaster- and Simi Valley-based, our service area also stretches north to Oxnard and down to Calabasas. In the ensuing years, the team has built a vibrant business and solid reputation for delivering the best solution for each situation and fantastic customer service. Joining the team in 2015, Kevin Cortrite brings almost 20 years of experience in servicing and installing access control systems for garage doors and gates. For a company built on such a solid foundation, only a partner whose first concern is customer service will do, and Kevin definitely keeps this foremost in his daily work. Everyone at Archway believes that the customer comes first, and they’ve got both the knowledge and reputation to prove it.
Being passionate about their work is part of what makes any professional really shine at what they do. Kevin looks forward to going to work every day, and tries to pass that love for the industry onto the clients. Rick loves the challenge of finding the solution to tricky garage door and gate installations. James finds being able to deliver exceptional quality to each and every customer highly rewarding.
